Welcome to the “Larsonfest 2012” Website
This is the official website for Operator Algebras, Frames, and Undergraduate Research: A Conference in Honor of the 70th Birthday of David R. Larson, which will be held at Texas A&M University July 20-22, 2012. Information on the Concentration Week in Frame Theory and Maps Between Operator Algebras which immediately precedes the birthday conference may be found here.
There are still many avenues of interdisciplinary work relating frame theory and operator theory that have not yet been fully explored, such as the use of dilation theory to tie together frames, operator-valued measures on sigma algebras, and normal linear maps on von Neumann algebras. This conference will bring together established and early career researchers in these fields in order to develop future directions in research and also to celebrate the 70th birthday of David R. Larson, whose research has greatly influenced both areas and whose guidance of undergraduate research has helped initiate many careers in mathematics.
